EDUCATION

Emily “Emmy” Demeris graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Educational Psychology and minors in Human Resource Development and Sociology. She received her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas the same year.

BACKGROUND

During law school, Emmy was an active member of the Moot Court Advocacy Program, Women’s Law Society, and Texas Aggie Bar Association. She interned at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Dena Palermo of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas (Houston, Texas).

Following law school, Emmy practiced family law at a Houston law firm. Thereafter, she began her insurance defense career, working for two prominent Houston-based firms defending claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act and Defense Base Act.

Emmy joined the Long Beach office of Samuelsen, Gonzalez, Valenzuela & Brown as an associate attorney in 2025. Her practice focuses on the defense of claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act.

Emmy is licensed to practice law in Texas.
