EDUCATION

JOSEPHINE MARES graduated from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. She received her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston, where she graduated cum laude, and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas the same year. 

BACKGROUND

MS MARES has focused the majority of her practice on defending employers and insurance carriers in matters arising under the Defense Base Act and Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. Throughout her career, she has acquired extensive knowledge regarding this particular practice, refined her communication skills to achieve favorable results in each claim, and developed a deep understanding of how to best meet her clients' specific needs.

Josephine joined the Long Beach office of Samuelsen, Gonzalez, Valenzuela & Brown as an associate attorney in March of 2026. She continues to focus her practice on the defense of claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and the Defense Base Act at Samuelsen, Gonzalez, Valenzuela & Brown.

Josephine is licensed to practice law in Texas.
